of the old railway from Birkirkara to the junction with Vjal
de Paule and the Corinthia Palace Hotel. |

From Birkirkara station guard
huts No 8 & 9 were passed in quick succession. G.H. No 8
at the crossing with the road that led to the Old Church, G.H.
No 9 at the crossing with Strada Imriehel. Just after G.H. No
9 the train passed St Aloysius College before arriving at G.H.
No 10 which was located at a crossing of the road that led to
Balzan. Also at this point on the line was Balzan station. Similar
to Santa Venera this primitive station, which today would be
called a "halt", consisted of a small raised earth
platform with stone edgings.A further 500 yds from Balzan station
and the train arrived at San Antonio station. |
