Birkirkara Station was 2 miles
and 1660 yds from Valletta. There were two platforms located
in a spacious landscaped area with a passing loop. To achieve
good plant growth an ingenious underground drainage system stores
the rain water collected from the track and buildings and through
a system of rubble drains irrigates the gardens. Also at Birkirkara
station a water tank allowed the locomotives to take on water. |
